Though officially they were an opening band on the bill, Halestorm was a headliner on this night of the hardDrive Live tour because it was their homecoming to their home state of Pennsylvania. The anticipation for their performance that night created a buzz in the air of the Sherman Theater and rumors were circulating that the band was going to filming for something, whether it be a music video or full live-dvd. The stage was set, the lights went out and all you heard was the “thump thump” of Arejay Hale hitting on a drum. The crowd erupted and the rest of the band walked out playing the opening cords of “Freak Like Me.” Lead singer, Lzzy Hale, can command the crowd with a flick of her finger and she knows it because she did so often during the set in between her numerous guitar parts/solos on songs.
Soon after the band came out the rumors were confirmed by the presence of a film crew on both sides of the stage and at times even in the middle of stage. From what we heard the band was filming for the “Here’s to Us” music video, which is a great song and it was also great to see them filming for it in their home state. The band played a decent size set that even included the crowd favorite drum solo from Arejay Hale. As Lzzy Hale and the band walked off stage at the end of their set it felt like the night could be over but then every became focused on what was to come and anticipation continued for Bullet for My Valentine to grow despite the general consensus that Halestorm‘s set could have been longer. Be sure to check out Sight of Sound Magazine‘s exclusive photo gallery below of Lzzy Hale and the gang as well as the band’s setlist too.
