Chiodos are hitting the Chameleon Club In Lancaster on day four of their headlining tour, April 18th, in support of their new album, Devil. The album is the first since the return of original vocalist, Craig Owens, who was back in the band touring for a fair amount of time before the decision to enter the studio was made.
As many of you know his original return was marked by a small reunion tour that hit many intimate venues for diehard fans and also featured the band snagging a main stage spot on last summer’s Vans Warped Tour. This album also marks the first with Thomas Erak, formally of Fall of Troy, taking over the role of lead guitar and replacing original guitarist, Jason Hale. Erak’s sound blends right in with the existing band as if he has been there since day one and it was apparent last summer on Warped that he was a perfect fit for the missing piece in Chiodos.
As a whole Devil shows how much Craig Owens and the rest of the band have matured over the past few years. Obviously this is a brief history of the band but Chiodos continued on for a period of time while Craig was both sorting out his life and then began working on his own thing with a band called D.R.U.G.S. or Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows. During this time the rest of the band put Illuminaudio, which was a critical success despite the controversy that tend’s to take place on an album with a new vocalist. However, it goes without saying that Devil will and possibly has already surpassed that album in terms of quality and distribution. Chiodos are more focused than ever on and haven’t stopped working for what seems like months since Craig’s return. In fact the band recently posted a video on their Instagram of them sound-checking a new song for the upcoming tour, the song of course was 3 AM off Devil.
While it is uncertain exactly how many songs off will be played off Devil on the upcoming tour, it is safe to say that the band will work a fair amount of the material into the set but don’t fear you can count on hearing all your old favorites such as “There’s No Penguins in Alaska” and “Thermacare” as well. As said before, Chiodos hit the Chameleon Club on the day four of their upcoming tour, April 18th, 2014.
Supporting acts on this upcoming headline tour include Emaroas in direct support with Hands Like Houses, Our Last Night and 68 in opening slots. Also performing at the Lancaster show will be a select number of local openers because this show is part of the 2014 Launch Music Conference, for more information on Launch click here.
