Dizzy Reed discusses upcoming Bethlehem show and future GNR plans.
This coming Tuesday the Sands Event Center will celebrate its two year anniversary in an even grander fashion than ever could be imagined. Legendary rock band, Guns N’ Roses will be rolling into Bethlehem for the occasion and it is set to be a night that the Valley will not soon forget. This show was announced only recently (2-3 months ago) and tickets began selling almost immediately after the announcement as fans jumped opportunity to see such a huge band played in a small arena like the Sands. As of this past week the show has officially been declared a sell out, this even factors in the new “premium” seating that the venue is offering thanks to some newly finished construction. Over the past year many bands have come through the Sands but few have sold out as quickly as Guns N’ Roses did and even fewer have generated this level of anticipation.
Sight of Sound had the chance to get Dizzy Reed, keyboardist and back up vocalist for Guns N’ Roses, on the phone last week for a very casual and brief interview. We talked about the band’s recent run through South American with Duff McKagan filling in on bass, the upcoming show at the Sands, The Revolver Golden God Awards (which VH1 Classic will be re-airing Saturday, May 24th) ,the upcoming Vegas Residency, and future GNR plans. Dizzy was more than generous with his answers and it was great having a conversation with him, the full (un-edited) discussion is posted below :
Following the band’s performance in Bethlehem, Guns N’ Roses will be heading out to Ohio to headline the annual Rock on The Range festival with other great rock bands such as Kid Rock, Slayer and Avenged Sevenfold. After that the train keeps rolling for them and they will soon be back in Vegas for their second residency. The bar has been raised high by their first stay in Vegas and fans are already beginning to chatter about what surprises may be in store for this one. Dizzy Reed wouldn’t spoil the surprise in our interview and he only hinted that “anything is possible,” which gives fans more than enough of a tease to get them excited for the shows. The Bethlehem show will mark the band’s first full US performance in quite a while and will be a great way from them to get back into the swing of things before the big festival show and of course the residency.
Will we hear some new GNR songs before the years end? Only time well tell, regardless Guns N’ Roses are back in the states for awhile and from the sounds of it might even be planning something for the Fall here as well. For those coming out to the show at the Sands Event Center we will see you there and to those heading out to Ohio or Vegas you can build up your anticipation even more when you see Sight of Sound’s coverage from the Bethlehem date. The Lehigh Valley is ready for Guns N’ Roses, only one question remains…..is it Tuesday yet?
