Photo coverage from night one of Radio 104.5’s 10th Birthday featuring rising star Rag n’ Bone Man, alternative mainstays Fitz and Tantrums, the United Kingdom’s most popular export The 1975, the over the top theatrical Empire of The Sun, and ‘Wild World’ giants Bastille. The theme of the day was an British invasion of alternative music as the rain poured down all day line successfully recreating the London vibe at nearly sold out BB&T Pavilion in Camden, New Jersey. A damp 48 degrees marked a stark difference from last year as fans were bundled up for the weather as opposed to the usual routine of hiding from the early summer sun.
Kings of Leon closed the show out to a large crowd but it was clear that the majority of fans stuck out the day for the earlier bands on the line up, Bastile specifically had one of the best crowds of the day, Sadly we were unable to capture images of Kings of Leons performance as their management restricted who would get to cover them. All the same check out their new album and be sure to check out all of the bands who performed as this line up capture the future, present and past of alternative. Rag n’ Bone Man stole the day in our opinion and while he played early in the day he showed he is bigger than a one hit man with his song “Humans” topping all charts – we are excited to see where 2017 takes him. The 1975 are wrapping up a long US tour run as well set to hit the studio for their third album shortly which will mean we can expect to see them back soon enough as well.
We;d like to thank iHeartMedia for having us out to capture the day and we’d also like to wish Radio 104.5 another 10 years of bringing the alternative genre to Pennsylvania. The Summer Block Party series is right around the corner but before then Night 2 of their birthday celebration will take place featuring The Killers, Andrew McMahon, Bleachers, Foster the People & more.
