Andrew Dice Clay Brings Multiple Sell Outs to SoulJoel’s
Last week comedy icon and legend Andrew Dice Clay became the latest in an ever growing list of talent to come to SoulJoel’s Comedy Club & Lounge in Royersford, PA. When it comes to anything Dice he remains popular and the trend held true as he sold out multiple shows across a few week nights at the heated comedy dome. Before the show kicked off I had some time to talk to SoulJoel, Joel Richardson about the success of the heavily modified comedy series that his club has been able to put on.
There is no denying that top talent coming to Royersford helps sell tickets for shows. However as Richardson explained it isn’t solely the artists popularity that has kept his business alive over this pandemic. During the conversation we went into some specifics of SoulJoel’s Heated Comedy Dome and Richardson noted that “25 to 33% of our customers come back weekly and have kept us afloat over the colder winter months.”
That is a massive amount of returning patrons for these comedy shows and has truly helped make SoulJoel’s a pillar of the community of Royersford and surrounding areas. Richardson also said that “without our sponsors and Soul Club donations from individuals, we wouldn’t have made it through this Winter.” When we talked further about just what that meant for the business he revealed that “combined we raised $27,000 through both.”
There is no denying that what the team at SoulJoel’s is nothing short of one of the best stories in the entertainment industry that the state has seen. The hurdles, the adaptations and the investment from the community has been crucial to surviving a difficult year of operation. It also doesn’t hurt when that hard fought success helps the venue start attracting stars like Andrew Dice Clay for a round of week day shows either.
Dice was everything you could hope he would be for a performance and even he took to social media (multiple times) to praise the venue, the crowd and time he had at SoulJoel’s. I’m not sure there are many higher or tougher compliments that can be earned in the comedy word than a seal of approval from “the diceman.” Returning for the show was the fantastic comedian and host James Mattern as well as long time comic Eleanor Kerrigan.
To say the crowd was treated to a night of laughter from the trio of comics they witnessed would be an understatement as it was one of the loudest shows the comedy dome as possible seen. With sold out show after sold out show on the horizon for SoulJoel’s what could possible be next? The only one to know for sure is to follow them on social media and stay tuned because if they’ve taught us anything this past year it is to expect the unexpected – and that it is probably going to be incredible.
